Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - A third-quarter onslaught Wednesday night mightve helped the Atlanta Hawks silence some doubters. Shelvin Mack hit six 3-pointers and netted 24 points off the bench as the Hawks routed the Cavaliers 127-98, avenging an ugly loss to Cleveland just over a month ago. A huge second-quarter run lifted the Hawks to a five-point halftime advantage, but they took the game over in the third after shooting 61.9 percent (13- of-21) and assisting on eight of their 13 made field goals. Atlanta outscored Cleveland 30-15 in the frame and cruised to the easy triumph in the fourth, leading by as many as 31. The Hawks, who posted 36 assists, have tallied 20-or-more helpers in all but two games and had assisted on an NBA-best 67.4 percent of shots made coming into the matchup. Cleveland blew out Atlanta 127-94 on Nov. 15. Al Horford supplied 20 points, while Paul Millsap added 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists for the Hawks, who have won 11 of their last 12 games. You go up and down the roster, different guys contributing at different times. Thats what were trying to build, is a team, Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer said. Atlanta moved to 18-7 on the season, its best start since 2009-10. LeBron James had 21 points, Dion Waiters poured in 21 points off the pine and Kevin Love provided 13 points, 10 boards and six helpers for Cleveland, which has dropped three of its last four contests on the heels of an eight- game winning streak. I really dont have too much to say, Cavs coach David Blatt said. That was embarrassing how we played. Atlanta led 73-68 with 8:56 left in the third prior to an 18-5 burst to pull away for good. Horford had six points during the surge, which was capped on a Mack triple for a commanding 91-73 margin late in the third. The Hawks took a 95-75 advantage into the fourth. Earlier, after jumping out to a 41-25 lead after one in its meeting with Atlanta a month ago, Cleveland was up 34-26 following a quarter of play in this one. Matthew Dellavedova nailed one from beyond the arc in the waning seconds of the period. Mack caught fire in the second, hitting five threes and scoring 17 points in the frame. After a Dellavedova trey staked the Cavs to a 50-38 spread midway through the stanza, Mack knocked down a trio of triples during a 17-2 Atlanta swing. The Hawks hit five threes in all during the flurry, which was finished off on a Mack long distance shot for a 55-52 Atlanta lead. The Hawks led 65-60 at the half. Game Notes Atlanta outscored Cleveland 101-64 over the final three quarters ... Dennis Schroder made his first career start in place of Jeff Teague, who has a strained left hamstring ... The Hawks shot 64.5 percent (49-of-76) from the field and hit 16-of-28 from beyond the arc. Michael Dickson Jersey . He had spent 16 days on the disabled list before being activated Thursday. That lifted his save percentage to .924 in eight games, a nice contribution from the backup, and putting him in good company among backup goaltenders this season. ZEROES Gilbert & Emelin - The Montreal defence pairing of Tom Gilbert and Alexei Emelin spent most of the night chasing Panthers in the defensive zone, with Emelin (7 shot attempts for, 20 against, 25.9%) posting the worst possession stats among Habs defencemen. Nail Yakupov - Even in a rare Oilers win, they got more of the same from their young winger. Yakupov started 75% of shifts against Los Angeles in the offensive zone, yet finished with 27.6% (8 for, 21 against) of even-strength shot attempts. Hes the rare forward to start more than two-thirds of his shifts in the offensive zone this season, yet fall below break-even on attempted shot differential. LINEUP NEED TO KNOW Brian Elliott - Returned to the St. Louis net, for his first game since November 25 after suffering a lower-body injury, and stopped 44 of 47 shots in a 3-2 loss at Nashville. Derek Roy - Made his Oilers debut, registering an assist, and playing 14:53, primarily on a line with Teddy Purcell and Nail Yakupov. Brayden McNabb - The Kings defenceman left Tuesdays 3-2 shootout loss too Edmonton after getting clipped with a high stick by Oilers rookie Leon Draisaitl.dddddddddddd Nikita Nikitin - Returned to the Oilers lineup for his first game since December 3, yet played a modest 11:15 against Los Angeles. SHORT SHIFTS The Predators got two-point games from both LW Gabriel Bourque and RW Olli Jokinen in their 3-2 win over St. Louis. Coming into the game, Bourque and Jokinen had combined for five points this season and had the two lowest ice times in the game for Nashville. Jokinen also had the best possession stats (18 shot attempts for, 6 against, 75.0%) for the Predators. Panthers G Roberto Luongo stopped 33 of 34 shots in a 2-1 shootout loss to Montreal…Oilers G Ben Scrivens turned aside 37 of 39 shots in a 3-2 shootout win against Los Angeles; it was his first win this season while recording more than 32 saves…Canucks G Ryan Miller had 31 saves on 32 shots in a 3-1 win at San Jose. FANTASY TIPS Its a busy night on the ice for the last day of 2014, so here are half a dozen players that you may want to get into your lineup: Mathieu Perreault - Leads the Jets with 12 points (7 G, 5 A) in 12 games in December, not bad considering his start to the season, which included no goals and three assists through his first 19 games. Andrei Vasilevskiy - Tampa Bays top goaltending prospect was recalled from the AHL, again, and it looks as though hell get the start against Buffalo. He stopped 94 of 100 shots in three games with the Lightning recently, when Ben Bishop was injured. Loui Eriksson - Hes still not generating shots like he did during his peak years in Dallas, but Eriksson has eight points (4 G, 4 A) in his past six games. Matt Calvert - The Blue Jackets winger has only nine points in 25 games this season, but has four points (1 G, 3 A) in the past four games and played a season-high 21:33 last game. Justin Abdelkader - On a three-game point streak, the Detroit winger has been playing and scoring more this year, thanks in large part to frequent linemates Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. Colton Sceviour - Getting a chance with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin on the Stars top line, Sceviour has five points (1 G, 4 A) in his past seven games.
